Abstract:<正> The results of the present study on rabbit ear artery strips demons-trate that the content of opiate-like substances(OLS)in this tissue measu-red by bioassay is 377.2±118.0 pg per mg of wet tissues and the contentof Leu-enkephalin(Leu-enk)measured by radioimmunoassay is 40.5±6.1pg per mg of wet tissues.By means of the specific actions of naloxone,pronase(a peptidase)and yohimbine(an α2-adrenergic receptor antago-nist),the effects of OLS on the activities of artery strips and theirpossible action pathways were also investigated.The results indicatethat OLS possess a significant inhibitory effect on the aetivities of arterystrips induced by electrical field stimulation and that this inhibitory ef-fect might be mediated via both pre and post-synaptic pathways.Thepresent study also indicates that prostaglandins(PG)may not be involvedin this inhibitory effect of OLS.
Abstract:<正> Ultrastructural changes of macrophages in mouse thymus during diges-tive process of exogenous material(heterophagy)and endogenous material(autophagy)were investigated with cytoehemieal demonstration of acidphosphatase(AcPase)activity.During the phagocytosis of maerophage,an apparent periodic change could be observed in the lysosomal system.According to this periodic change,we proposed a new concept of phago-cytosis period.This period could be divided into 2 stages,heterophago-eytosis stage and autophagocytosis stage.The main feature of heteropha-goeytosis stage was that the activity of phagocytosis was increased,a largenumber of irregularshaped(transformed)heterophagolysosomes(HPL)were formed,then many small lysosomes were formed by budding and pin-ching-off from the transformed HPL.In the autophagocytosis stage,a lotof small lysosomes were wrapped by the transformed HPL.It was shownthat in the autophagocytosis stage the autophagy of macrophage was a pha-nomenon of self-phagocytosis of HPL.
Abstract:<正> A method to localize N-acetylcholine receptor at neuromuscular junctionby using α-BT-HRP conjugate is described.Intact strips of fresh musclewere incubated with α-BT-HRP conjugate at a concentration of 1×10-7 Min Tyrode’s solution and then reacted with Karnovsky’s DAB medium.Various vesicular forms of brownish red reaction products were seen un-der light microscope.Under electron microscope,reaction products wereseen both on the presynaptic and postsynaptic membranes.The bindingactivity and reliability of α-BT-HRP are discussed.
Abstract:<正> The changes of skeletal muscle cellular membrane potential(SMCMP)were determined in vivo with the technique of“semi-floating”glass mic-roelectrode in different phases of irreversible hemorrhagic shock in rab-bits.The distribution of extra-and intracellular electrolytes and waterwas studied at the same time.It was found that SMCMP decreased significantly as soon as hypoten-sion occurred,the potential continued to decrease as shock becameprogressively worse,and the leakage of intracellular potassium and reten-tion of intracellular sodium and water occurred 3 hours after the onsetof shock.These facts indicate that the functions of cellular membranebegin to deteriorate in the early stage of shock,the deterioration of thefunctions of the cell proper supervenes as shock progresses,and eventual-ly the cell fails to regulate their volume.
Abstract:<正> Secretory granule-containing dendrites and their synaptic structuresof the supraoptic and paraventricular nuclei were studied with electronmicroscope.Secretory granules were found in proximal dendrites,dendriticstems and fine dendritic branches.Synaptic structures with clear roundvesicles and a few large dense core vesicles could often be identified onthese dendrites.The synaptic membranes were either symmetrical or asym-metrical.
Abstract:<正> The surface ultrastructure of the internal elastic lamina(IEL)ofrabbit aorta was investigated with scanning electron microscopy(SEM).After fixation of aorta in situ at physiological pressure,the endotheliumwas torn off by using nitrocellulose and the endothelim-free intima wasdigested by HC1 and then treated by Tween.The IEL,covering thetunica media,was carpet-like which consisted of densely populated elas-tic fibers.The Stomata of the IEL were also observed.These stomatawere probably specially differentiated structures and some cells could beseen passing through them.The significance of stomata was discussed.Itwas proposed that SEM was very useful for studying the three-dimens-sional relationship of the IEL.
Abstract:<正> In this report,we present the study of determination of DNA in dif-ferent Namalva interferon preparations by a microassay method usingethidium bromide.The results show that the interferon purified by anti-body affinity chromatography contains no DNA,thus indicating this pu-rified interferon preparation can be used clinically.
Abstract:<正> Antibodies against LSP in the sera of 163 patients with various typesof viral hepatitis were determined with SPA-RIA.The sera of anothergroup of 118 patients(109 of them were from the first group)withviral hepatitis were studied with ELISA for the same antibodies,whichwere further divided into three categories,that is,IgG,IgM,and IgAclasses.The results of 109 patients examined with both of the two me-thods indicated that anti-LSP antibodies measured by SPA-RIA mightmainly represent anti-LSP IgG class.It was found that circulating anti-LSP antibodies could easily be detected in most patients with either acuteor chronic hepatitis.After analyzing the results,the authors suggest thatthe humoral immune response against LSP might not be the sole initiatingfactor in the pathogenesis of viral hepatitis,they are more likely theresult of the antigen variation of the injured liver cells.
Abstract:<正> Acid α-naphthyl acetate esterase(ANAE)activity was used todemonstrate T lymphocytes in paraffin-embedded gastrointestinal tissuesand perigastric lymph nodes,one or more reddish-brown dots could berecognized in the cytoplasm of T lymphocytes,diffuse reddish-brownANAE products were also present in the cytoplasm of macrophages,epithelial and glandular cells.B lymphocytes were ANAE negative.Itwas demonstrated that ANAE cytochemical staining technique could beused to differentiate T lymphocytes.This method is simple and easy tocarry out in most hospitals.The percentage of T lymphocytes in essentially normal gastric mucosawas about 9.8% There was no significant difference in fundi andantra.The intraepithelial cells were located at the bottom of epithe-lial cells.In lamina propria T lymphocytes were distributed near the ba-sal layer of the epithelium.This might be related to the perception ofantigenic stimulation and regulation of immunologic reaction.
Abstract:<正> Animal experiments demonstrated that severe acoustic trauma of themiddle and inner ears occurred after cannonade explosion within a dis-tance of about 8 metres.Among the 60 ears of 30 guinea pigs,57 showedrupture of eardrums,32 had destruction of ossiele-chains,while 47 hadaccumulation of blood and exudates in the middle ears;a gradient of in-jury of the cochlea was also observed,minimal damage occurred in 3,increased in 41,and maximal in 16.The injuries occurred chiefly in thefirst and second turns,but the third and fourth turns were also involvedin 21.The results coincide with the clinical audiometry curve of thepatients who suffered from explosive acoustic trauma.
Abstract:<正> Combined therapy of operation and radiation was carried out in 22patients with primary liver cancer in our hospital.All the patients weremales,ranging from 15-69 yr of age with an average of 44.5 yr.His-tological diagnosis was hepatocellular carcinoma in 21 cases andcholangioearcinoma 1 case.17(77.3%)patients were associated withliver cirrhosis,and 19(86.4%)patients had positive AFP bycounterimmunoelectrophoretic method.Clinically,6 patients were in stageⅠ,11 in stage Ⅱ and 5 in stage Ⅲ.Liver resection was performed on 17patients(5 local resections,5 right hemihepateetomies,2 left laterallobectomies,2 left hemihepatectomies,2 total right hepatectomies,and1 left medial Iobectomy)and palliative operation on the other 5 patients(4 hepatic artery ligations or operative embolizations and 1 hepaticartery infusion).For radiotherapy either local or perative whole-liverradiation with 60Co was applied.Up to May 1983,19 patients who had been followed up had survivedfor more than 6 months.The survival rates at 1,2,3,4 years aftertreatment were 78.9%,66.7%,64.3% and 44.4% respectively with amedian survival duration of 36 months.Data have shown that the encou-raging results of this method are better than those of only liverresection or only radiotherapy at present.
Abstract:<正> The interference of optokinetic nystagmus from vestibular nystagmuswas evaluated in 10 patients with a pre-existing spontaneous peripheralvestibular nystagmus,and in 9 normal subjects,in whom vestibular nys-tagmus was induced with 10 times of 60°/sec constant speed countercloc-kwise rotation.The examinees of both groups were all subjected to hori-zontal clockwise and counter-clockwise optokinetic stimulation(targetspeed 60°/sec,frequency 2 Hz).It was found that vestibular nystagmus exerted no significant modi-fying effect on the eye velocity of the slow phase of optokinetic nystag-mus,and that no favorable evidence was demonstrated to support thealgebraic summation hypothesis.
Abstract:<正> A new strain of hemolytic gemella(HG)was Isolated from woundexudates,pleural fluid and sputum of 12 patients.It is similar to thecocci gemella hemolysans in form,staining and growth,but is differentfrom them in respect of the morphological arrangement,mode of repro-duction,and contour of colony.It is aerobic,quick-hemolytic and auto-Iytic.Our study indicates that this strain formerly regarded as a usualbacterium present in the respiratory system is actually a new variant.On the basis of light and electron microscopic observation,identificationof bacteria,determination of antibodies and animal inoculation,a singlepure species of bacteria was obtained from purulent exudate culture.Clinical events proved that this organism is a pathogenic variant strainof hemolytic gemella.
Abstract:<正> A peanut germ cell-free system(PS30)used for protein synthesisin vitro has been newly developed.The PS30 has a maximum ultravioletabsorbance at λ 258nm.The rates of endogenous protein synthesis of PS30 and wheat germ cell-free system(WS30)used as an experimental con-trol were 5.9±0.5 and 7.1±0.8 folds,respectively.The translationalactivity of rat liver RNAs in PS30 or WS30 was almost identical.
