Abstract:<正> The effects of combined use of earthworm extract(912)and HpD-laser on the produc-tion of reactive oxygen and the biosynthesis of DNA in S180 tumor cells were studied throughchemiluminescence measurement and[3H]-TdR incorporation assay.The results showed that as com-pared with the control,the intensity of chemiluminescence emitted by tumor cells treatedsimultaneously with 912 and HpD-laser was enhanced more than ten-folds,while that treated with912 or HpD-laser alone was increased only 2~4 folds.The[3H]-TdR incorporation into tumorcells of the former group was inhibited upto 74.1%,and that of the latter groups decreased onlyby 42.2% and 40.0%,respectively.In accordance with these biochemical changes,the ultrastructuraldamage of tumor cells of the former,combinedly treated group appeared to be the most serious.This suggests an additive effect of 912 with HpD-laser on tumor cells.In addition,if free radicalscavengers,such as catalase and superoxide dismutase,were added to the reaction systembefore chemiluminescence assay,the luminescent enhancement effect mentioned above was dramaticallyalleviated,implying the presence of O2and H2O2 in the system.Therefore,as to the toxic effecton tumor cells,912 and HpD-laser are not only additive in efficiency,but also similar in theunderlying mechanism of action.
Abstract:<正> This paper reports the stroke incidence rates in the People’s Republic of China(PRC)in 1986.A total of 5790864 people from 199 locations sampled from all parts of the PRC(Taiwanprovince excluded)were investigated and among them 6367 complete stroke cases were found.Theincidence rate was 109.95 per 100000 people and its 95% CI was 107.25~112.65/100000.The inci-dence rate adjusted using the population composition of the urban and rural areas of the PRCin 1986 was 110.58/100000.The incidence rate standardized by the direct method using thePRC population in 1982 was 84.07/100000,and the incidence rate standardized using theworld standard population was 115.87/100000.The incidence rates of the various provinces werecounted respectively,and the relationship between the incidence rates and the geographical locationswas analysed correlatively and regressively.Positive correlation and linear regression were found be-tween the incidence rotes and the latitudes and the longitudes,that is to say,the incidence rates in-creased gradually from the south to the north and decreased progressively from the east to the westin the PRC.The stroke incidence rates were higher in urban districts than in outskirts inbig cities.When the distribution of case number in months was analysed using the methods of thetest for trend and circular distribution,a peak significant in statistics was found in January althoughit was not very high.The stroke incidence rates rose gradualy with age,and the relationship be-tween the incidence rates and age could he fitted with the Logistic curve.
Abstract:<正> To study the diagnosis of hepatitis C viremia,17 patients(including 14 in acute phase)with post-transfusion non-A,non-B hepatitis(NANBH)were investigated by nested polymerasechain reaction after reverse transcription with 3 sets of primers complemented to different regions ofthe viral sequence.Hepatitis C virus(HCV)RNA was detected in 6(35%)cases with reverse tran-script polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR)using the primers according to the Japanese clones;in13(76%)using the primers according to the non-coding region which is highly conserved in theviral sequence,and in 16(94%)using both or either one of these two sets of primers.However,no HCV RNA was detected with the primers according to the Chiron prototype.The nucleotide se-quence of HCV is quite variable,and the virus level in blood is very low,therefore,in order to getprecise detection,it is suggested to do nested RT-PCR with several sets of primers complementaryto different conserved regions.
Abstract:<正> In this study,the changes in activity and mRNA transcript of basic fibroblast growth fac-tor(bFGF)in lung injury and the effect of prostacyclin on the treatment of lung injury wereinvestigated.The result of the experiment revealed that there were not any bioactive bFGF andbFGF mRNA in the lung tissue of normal dogs.bFGF activity and bFGF mRNA were detectedonly in the injured lung tissue.Prostacyclin could slightly elevate the activity of bFGF andsignificantly elevate the level of bFGF mRNA.The findings suggest that(1)the level of bFGF in-creased after lung injury.(2)Prostacyclin could influence the expression of bFGF.(3)bFGF couldplay an important role in the repair of injury lung tissue.
Abstract:<正> Monoclonal antibodies against gastric cancer(MG)were purified by ion-exchangechromatography on DEAE-cellulose(DE-52)column and coupled with CNBr-activated Sepharose4B.The Sepharose 4B linked with MG monoclonal antibodies was then incubated with serum andascitic fluid of patients with gastric cancer and benign diseases for 2h.After being blocked by nor-mal mouse serum,the MG-Sepharose was mack to react with the MG-labeled with fluoresceinisothiocyanate for 30min.According to immunoaffinity chromatography principle,the MG-labeledwith fluorescein isothiocyanate was separated from the MG-Sepharose with 0.01 mol/L of PBS-3mol/L of KCNS solution and then detected with a fluorospectrometer.The amount of fluorescencein the solution of separation represented the amount of the antigens defined by MG monoclonalantibodies.The mean value plus 2 standard deviations of the benign disease group was arbitrarilyset as their positive threshold.The positivity rates were 61.1%(22/36)in serum and 75%(18/24)inascitic fluid of patients with gastric cancer.It suggests that the determination of MG-Ags in the se-rum and ascitic fluid of patients may be helpful for the diagnosis of gastric cancer.
Abstract:<正> Electrophoresis-purified human glycophorin A(GPA)was used to produce its derivatives:(1)separation and purification of glycopeptides from GPA were performed after trypsin-digestion:(2)prepanation of GPA antibody and GPA glycopeptide antibody;(3)preparation of deglycosylatedGPA(dGPA);(4)incorporating GPA or dGPA into human RBC membrane lipids to form twokinds of liposomes.The products described above were used to test Plasmodim falciparumFCC-1/HN merozoites for their ability to invade human erythrocytes.It was found that GPA-liposomes were able to bind with merozoites and dGPA-liposomes had a negative reaction.GPA,GPA glycopeptide,GPA antibody,GPA glycopeptide antibody and GPA-liposome all had the effectto hinder the invasion of merozoites into human erythrocyte,whereas dGPA-liposome had no suchan effect.
Abstract:<正> Experimental high-velocity missile injuries were produced on both hind legs of 15 dogs.It was found that the concentration of vasoactive intestinal peptide-like immunoreactivity(VIP-LI)significantly elevated in both plasma and brain at the early stage after injuries.However,thechanges of VIP-LI concentration in the plasma and brain did not coincide with each other.The re-sults suggest that VIP-LI may participate in the post-traumatic general reaction.The significanceand machanism of the elevation of cerebral VIP-LI level after a severe non-cerebral trauma remainto be clarified.

Abstract:<正> Mitochondria were isolated from normal and cold adapted rat livers.The respiratory func-tion of mitochondria in rat livers,including ADP:O ratio(P/O)and the respiratory control ratio(RCR),was determined by oxygen electrode method,The protein synthesis in mitochondria wasstudied by observing the incorporation of[3H]-Leucine into mitochondria.Polyacrylamide gelelectrophoresis was carried out to detect the changes of the inner membrane proteins.It was shownthat the P/O and RCR decreased in cold adapted rats in the 2nd and 4th weeks and returned tothe control level in the 6th week,the protein synthesis of mitochondria decreased significantly incold adapted rats in 1,2 and 4 weeks;the electrophoretic pattern of the inner membrane proteinsin mitochondria from cold adapted rat livers revealed some new bands.
Abstract:<正> Microinjection of 0.5μg guanabenz(GB)into the nucleus tractus solitarii(NTS)orintravenous(i.v.)injection of 10μg/kg of GB significantly lowered plasma renin activity(PRA).blood pressure(BP)and heart rate(HR)in rats i.v.10 μg/kg GB,after the bilateral NIS were de-stroyed by electric current(1 mA 20s),did not decrease PRA,BP and HR.These findings suggestthat the inhibitory action of GB on PRA,BP and HR is related to the activation of alpha-2adrenoceptors in the NTS.
Abstract:<正> Based on the principle of fluid mechanics a mathematical model of the oval gallbladder’smoving boundaries was obtained by CT,radio contrast radiography and B mode echography.Weadopted for the first time in this field,the finite element method to calculate the transient flow fieldwithin the human gallbladder in vivo and successfully made out the distribution of bile flow withinthe cyst,known as Newtonian fluid and axisymmetric flow.Thus we completed the poineering ofthe bile flow study within the gallbladder,and confirmed the way of the cholelithogenesis withinthe cyst.Theoretically the vortex flow is proved to be the mechanical factor in the formation ofgallbladder stone and several conclusions were drawn from this study:(1)near the axis of thecontacting gallbladder exists an accelerated bile out-flow column;(2)near the central cross-section ofthe flow field there exist two opposed vortex areas,the one which near the axis rotatescounterwise and flows faster;(3)a gross similarity exists between the law of attenuation of bile flowvelocity and the gallbladder contraction;(4)chololithogenesis within the cyst is related to the vortex inthe flow field.
Abstract:<正> Autografts of skin of 3 rabbits were embedded in the subcutis of their backs.Samplingswere separately taken 2,4,6,8,10 and 12 d after grafting,A dynamic observation of the effectsof the anti-keratin autoantibodies(AK auto Ab)on the autoepidermis was made by HE,directimmunofluorescence(DIF)and peroxidase-antiperoxidase(PAP)stainings on frozen sections.It wasshown that the embedded autoepidermis could rapidly proliferate,extend and surround the keratinto form cysts.The specific IgG deposition was seen near the stratum corneum before the epidermiswas proliferated,and also there were obvious increases of IgG deposited in the granular layer ofproliferated epidermis,keratin and exfoliative keratinocytoplasm.But,after the keratin wascompletely blocked,it was found that the IgG decreased in the above areas.It is suggested that theconjugation of AK auto Ab with keratin may provide the earliest“biological information”of theabove-described reaction of epidermis.Dyskeratotic cells and hyaline corpuscles may be the resultsof interaction of the AK auto Ab of the exfoliative keratinocytes.
Abstract:<正> Linear combination method of absorbances was used for the simultaneous determinationof phenol and resorcinol whose absorption spectra overlap severely in the compound resorcinolpaint.The determination wavelengths were 265.0nm,270.0nm,273.4nm and 278.0nm.The averagerecoveries for phenol and resorcinol were 100.28±0.30% and 99.52±0.22%,respectively.
Abstract:<正> The rat vertebral and common carotid arteries were obstructed to cause bilateralhemispheric ischemia.Vasoactive intestinal peptide(VIP)in the rat cerebral cortex following 10~60min of ischemia was analysed by radioimmunoassay(RIA).The results showed that the levels ofVIP were significantly lower in the ischemic animals than controls(P<0.01).The distribution andmetabolism of VIP in the cerebral cortex and the probable mechanism during ischemia are dis-cussed.
Abstract:<正> Sixteen one-year-old dogs were used in our experiment.We rotated the maxillary secondincisors of the dogs,applying a force of 100g and a moment of 550g·mm.The duration of theexperiment varied from 72h to 8 weeks.Activation was performed once every 2 weeks and the impressions were taken in order to measure the angles of rotation.The results of our experiment showthat the rotation rate of single-rooted tooth in dogs is 3.04/week.The graph shows the form ofgradual stairs.This paper introduces a new specialized experimental apparatus for tooth rotation.The angles of rotation are measured geometrically.
Abstract:<正> Two methods were employed in the management of 18 patients with mediastinal infec-tions after open-heart surgery in a 10-year-period from 1980 to 1989.The first 3 cases weretreated with local debridement and drainage of the involved areas.Of them,1 was cured and 2 de-veloped chronic osteomyelitis of the sternum with an average hospitalization of 91 d.The other 15cases were treated with radical debridement and closed retrosternal irrigation of antibiotic solutions.Fourteen out of the 15 cases were successfully cured with an average hospitalization of 15d and 1case suffered from a recurrence of infection.No hospital mortality occurred in this series and 2 latedeaths were not related to mediastinal infections.It is believed by the authors that radicaldebridement in association with retrosternal irrigation is a far much better method than localdebridement combined with drainage in the management of mediastinal infections afteropen-heart surgery.
Abstract:<正> Here are reported the changes of superoxide dismutase(SOD)activity andmalondialdehyde(MDA)in the smooth muscle cells of human fetal aorta cultured in vitro with lowdensity lipoprotein(LDL)conditional medium.The results showed that a single concentration of hu-man LDL(50μg/ml)stimulated proliferation of smooth muscle cells,and the SOD activityof the cells in the experimental group was higher,from the first to the fifth cultured day whenthe cells had a active proliferation,than that of the control cells.This suggests that LDL might in-duce the increase of SOD activity.At the seventh day,as the cells were in inactive proliferation,SOD activity was low and the difference was significant as compared with that at the fifth day ofthe same group.This also indicates that the SOD activity may be related to the cell proliferation.MDA level within the cells of the esperimental group was lowered with the cell active proliferationand the increase of SOD activity,but when the cells were in inactive proliferation and the SOD ac-tivity decreased,it will remained low.
Abstract:<正> In the present study,an anti-gastric cancer monoclonal antibody MGb2-daunomycin(DM)conjugate was prepared by cis-aconitic anhydride method.The distribution of the conjugatein nude mice bearing human gastric carcinoma SGC-7901 was investigated.Four to five moleculesof DM were introduced into each molecule of antibody while the antigen-binding capacity ofthe antibody was well-retained.This conjugate could be satisfactorily localized in the tumortissue.Ninety-six hours after intraperitoneal injection of 125I-MGb2-DM conjugate,the ratio ofradioactivity per milligram of tumor to that per milligram of blood reached 203,the result beingquite similar to that of unmodified MGb2.
Abstract:<正> It has been proved that endogenous opioids play an important pathophysiological role inthe lesions secondary to central nervous system trauma.Opiate antagonists and opioid antisera havebeen found to improve the outcome of experimental brain injury,Thyrotropin-releasing hormone(TRH),which appears to act in part as a functional antagonist of opioid system,has also beenproved to be effective in the treatment of experimental brain injury.The developments of these as-pects in our laboratory are reviewed.
