Abstract:<正> The changes of thymic structure and functions of Ehrlich ascitescarcinoma-bearing mice were observed by using histometer methods,scanning electron microscopy,cell electrophoretic technique,and footpadtest etc.The results show that the changes are different at differentstages of tumor development.At the early stage,the synthesis of DNAand RNA and lymphoid cell mitosis in host thymus increased mar-kedly,while the thymic weight and thymocyte number decreased.It is suggested that more thymocytes are produced at this stage,butthe newly produced thymocytes,being stimulated by tumor antigensor other factors,are rapidly exported to peripheral lymphoid organsand blood,where they may be mobilized to participate in antitumorimmune responses.At the middle and late stages,the synthesis ofDNA and RNA,mitotic index and number of thymocytes in thehost thymus decreased and the thymus atrophied progressively.Theepithelial reticular cells contracted and gathered to form“epithelialislets”.Some of them were degenerated.These results indicate thatmuch fewer thymocytes are produced at these stages because of thedisintegration of thymic microenvironment.This event results inthe decrease of T lymphocyte migration from thymus to peripheralcirculating pool.Two thymus-dependent immune responses weredecreased during tumor development,but the mechanism is different.The insufficiency of thymus-dependent humoral immunity is dueto the decrease of helper cell activity,while the defect of cell-mediated immunity is due to the increase of suppressor cell activity.The possible mechanism and signifficance of structural and functionalchanges in the thymus of tumor-bearing hosts are discussed.
Abstract:<正> Intraperitoneal injection of viable syngeneic hepatocytes apparent-ly improved the survival rate of D-galactosamine-induced acuteliver failure in rats,while transplantation of non-viable ceils wasineffective and even showed certain extent of clotting disorders.The microscopical examination of liver specimens and estimationof DNA synthesis by 3H-TdR have suggested that early trans-plantation of viable hepatic cells may minimize the hepatic injury andpromote the regeneration and restoration of hepatic cells.
Abstract:<正> The changes of lysosomes of the hepatocytes in 27 rats aged 1,5,15,30,50 and 90 days respectively were observed with morphometry andby studying the ultrastructures.The results indicate that during thisperiod of development,the volume density and the numerical density ofthe lysosomes markedly increased.Lysosomes originally scattered inthe cytoplasm of the hepatocytes gradually migrated to the peripheryof the bile canaliculi,and the changes of the proportions amongcertain forms of secondary lysosomes were also observed.The author,considering from all the results,suggest that the first 5 days of the lifeof the rats is a critical period for the development of the lysosomesof the hepatocytes.
Abstract:<正> The treatment of traumatic obliterated urethra is a thorny pro-blem.A catheter was placed previously through the obliterated ure-thra from cystostomic orifice,then establishment of urethral conti-nuity of obliterated urethra was done under the guidance of thecatheter with an endoscope.The result was good in 4 cases.
Abstract:<正> This work was undertaken to investigate the etiology and histo-genesis of non-cirrhotic hepatocellular car-cinoma(NCH)in humanbeings.Among the 142 cases of NCH studied,135 were samplesobtained from surgical resection and 7 from autopsy.Fifty speci-mens from cirrhotic hepatocellular carcinoma(CH)were taken ascontrol(42 from operated material and 8 from autoptic material.,The results were as follows:1.Hepatitis B liver diseases and Orcein negative hepatitis liverdiseases accounted for 51.41% and 48.59% in NCH group,and 58.00%and 42.00% in CH group,suggesting that the two groups had asimilar background of liver diseases.2.The proliferation of oval cells was found to be 80.99% inNCH group and 100% in CH group(the difference was statisticallysignificant).It is suggested that oval cells exposed to carcinogensmight develop into poorly differentiated and adenoid type of livercancer.3.Hepatocyte dysplasia was found to be 29.57% and 70.00%in NCH and CH group respectively,and there was a significantdifference between the two groups of HCC.We believe that dys-plasia may be a precancerous disorder.
Abstract:<正> A suspension was prepared from the infant mouse brain in-fected by JEV.It was clarified by centrifugation.Protamine sulfatewas added to the supernatant with a final concentration of 5 mg/ml,and the contaminated protein was removed.The recovery of HAand infectivity was 66% and 55% respectively.The supernatant was concentrated by differential centrifugationand purified by rate zone centrifugation in sucrose density gradientwith recovery of 29% of HA and 37% infectivity.The purificationfactors(PF)were 138 for HA and 175 for infectivity.SHA without any infectivity were found on the top of gradientcolumn.The immunological characteristics of the componentsawait further studies.
Abstract:<正> The intragastric changes especially the changes of nitrite levelafter the cimetidine treatment with or without concomitant adminis-tration of vitamin C were studied in 34 patients with peptic ulcer.The pH value,nitrite level,and bacterial count of the gastric juiceafter cimetidine treatment were significantly higher than those priorto the treatment(P<0.01).If vitamin C was given simultaneouslywith cimetidine,then the nitrite level would not be elevated afterthe treatment(P>0.05).Besides,the reduction of BAO,PAO,andMAO was not influenced by vitamin C intake.It is believed thatvitamin C can reduce the nitrite concentration elevated by cimetidinetreatment,but it will not affect the acid-inhibitory function ofcimetidine.This fact is of importance for the safe application ofcimetidine.
Abstract:<正> The effects of hemorrhagic fever renal syndrome(HFRS)viruson bone marrow cells are discussed in this paper.Viral antigenicfluorescence in immature marrow cells,especially in megakaryocy-tes,was found in 34 of 45 patients with HFRS by means of IFAand FA.The suspension of marrow cells of 10 patients with HFRSwas inoculated into a flask with Vero-E6 cells.The strains of HFRSvirus were isolated.Constructural abnormality of bone marrow cellsand virus-like particles were observed in dilated channel of roughendoplasmic reticulum and Golgi apparatus by electron microscopy.These results suggest that human bone marrow cells are one of targetcells which are attacked by HFRS virus and that the virus multip-lication in bone marrow cells can cause a damage of immature cellsand a severe thromocytopenia.
Abstract:<正> The exoerythrocytic forms(EEF)of Plasmodium y.yoelli BY265 in the liver of rats and mice are morphologically similar,however,the size of the matured EEF in rats is far much larger thanthat in mice.In the sections of the liver of both animals,which weremade 48-65 hours after the inoculation of sporozoites,two types ofdegenerated EEF,one type with and the other without white cellinfiltration,can be found.Degeneration occurs in 6.6% of EEF inrats and 5.8% in mice.Once the normally developed parasites becomematured and ruptured,large amount of white cells are attracted andaccumulated to form local foci of infiltration.
Abstract:<正> This article is about the effects of interferon(IFN)on sisterchromatid exchange(SCE)frequencies induced by mitomycin C(MMC)and/or unscheduled DNA synthesis(UDS)induced by ultra-violet light(UV).The result shows that SCE frequencies in peri-pheral lymphocytes from 4 normal individuals and 3 patients withxeroderma pigmentosum(XP)treated with IFN before the additionof MMC were much lower than those of the controls.But after thetreatment of IFN followed by UV irradiation,no difference was fo-und between the UDS levels of the lymphocytes from 2 normal in-dividuals and 2 patients with XP and those from the controls.Thewriters deduce that IFN may have some effect of antimutation
Abstract:<正> Lactate dehydrogenase(LDH),as an indicator of cell damageor death,was used to determine the diphosgene damage of respiratorytract cells.Guinea-pigs were exposed to diphosgene at concentrationswithin the LCt50 range and above.The content of LDH in thebronchopulmonary washings of guinea-pigs was significantly increa-sed after poisoning.There was no increase of free hemoglobincontent in the washings.It was indicated that lysed erythrocyteswere not the source of LDH in the poisoned group.The LDH iso-enzyme pattern in the poisoned group washings suggests that theincreased LDH comes from the respiratory tract cells.These resultsshow diphosgene can directly damage cells of the respiratory tract.
