Abstract:<正> Here presents a brief summation of studies on the home-made drughydroxypiperaquine,which has been shown to be an effective malarial suppressant.The chemistry,antimalarial activity,clinical efficacy in malarial chemotherapy aswell as the principal toxicity data of this drug are summarized in this paper.
Abstract:<正> The repairing capacities of bone matrix gelatin(BMG),decalcified bonematrix(DBM)and deep frozen bone(DFB)were tested in experimental defects onskulls of rats.The healing of defects were judged by roentgenographic,histological and atomic absorption spectrophotometric methods.The healing ofdefects was most effective with BMG(P<0.01),and DMB came next while thecapability of bone induction was very weak in DFB.In the BMG and DBMgroups,skull defects were completely healed in 12 weeks after the operation,but inthe DFB group healing was incomplete.The control group failed to healspontaneously.The results suggest that during the process of resorption of BMGand DBM,bone morphogenetic protein(BMP)was released by diffusion,whichinduced mesenchymal cells originating from the dura mater to differentiate intochondrocytes and osteobIasts,resulting in formation of new bone.The inducedosteogenesis is considered to be a complex process regulated not only by BMP butalso by various systemic and local growth factors.

Abstract:<正> The effects of added airflow resistance(0.3-3 kPa·L.(-1)·s)on therespiratory flow rate and mask cavity pressure as well as the subject’s perceptionwere investigated in 114 pilots under light physical activities(250kg·m·min-).A correlation and stepwise regression analysis was made to reveal the objectivephysiological indexes which could reflect the effects of the added resistance, and aprobit analysis was made to confirm the permissible levels for added resistance.The results suggest that both mask cavity pressure swing(P) and extra respiratorywork per unit ventilation(W.L-1)could be used as the objective physiological,,indexes for respiratory discomfort,and the former may be more applicable.If Pdoes not exceed 0.60kPa or if W L-1does not exceed 0.047 kg·m L-1,90% ofthe subjects will feel no respiratory discomfort;if P does not exceed 0.77kPa orW·L-1not exceed 0.061 kg·m·L-1,90% may only feel less than mediumrespiratory discomfort.The problem concerning the revision of the currentstandards of respiratory resistance of aircraft oxygen equipment is discussed inthis paper.
Abstract:<正> It has been known that the antimalarial drugs of aminoquinolinesincluding 8-aminoquinolines may cause inhibition of heart conduction or evenAdams-Stokes syndrome,but their morphologic bases were obscure.The purposeof the present study is to define the histological and ultrastructural features ofprimaquine in mammals including dogs,monkeys and rats in the subacute toxicexperiments with the stress on the morphological alteration of the heart.In most(11/16)of the intoxicated dogs,granular degeneration,eosinophilic degeneration,coagulation necrosis,vacuolar degeneration and colliquative myocytolysis werefound in the myocardium and conduction systems.Under electron microscopicstudy,the myocardial cells of intoxicated dogs showed swelling of mitochondria,dilatation of transverse tubules and sarcoplasmic reticulum,fusion or dissolutionof myofibrils,deformity of nuclei,clumping of chromatin,and eventually cellnecrosis.The severities of lesions were dose dependent.These lesions weresupposed to be the morphologic evidence of the toxic symptoms and signs caused byprimaquine.A few rats also revealed myocardial eosinophilic degeneration.Noimportant cardiac lesions were found in the monkeys,but the pathologic changesin the liver were obvious.Different species of laboratory animals showed differentorgan sensitivities to primaquine,but the heart lesions should be considered as animportant toxic effect of primaquine.

Abstract:<正> Thirteen goats with chronic lung lymph fistula were inflicted withsmoke inhalation injury.Thromboxane A2(TXA2 in terms of thromboxane B2 orTXB2)and prostacyclin(PGl2 in terms of 6-keto-prostaglandin F1xor6-keto-PGF1x)in plasma,lung lymph and lung tissue were measured withradioimmunoassay(RIA).Extravascular lung water(EVLW),lung lymph flow(QL),the ratio of protein contents between lung lymph and plasma(LIP),hemodynamic parameters,blood gases,platelet and leukocyte counts were alsodetermined.EVLW,QL and L/P increased significantly at the 1st hour,reachedtheir peak values at the 2nd hour,then declined gradually and remained at a levelover the baseline at the 6th hour after injury.TXA2 and PGl2 also increasedmarkedly and the.changes of TXA2 and TXA2/PGI2 ratio were in parallel withthose of EVLW,QL and LIP both in degree and in length of time.It is possiblethat the increased TXA2 and TXA2/PGI2 ratio might participate in the formationof permeability pulmonary edema through direct injury and for chemical mediatorsreleased by platelet and leukocyte aggregations promoted by TXA2.In addition,TXA2 might also play a role in the early elevation of pulmonary arterial pressure.

Abstract:<正> We studied the changes of pulmonary vascular permeability andlipoperoxides in scalded rats with full-thickness damage 40% of bow surface. Theresults showed that both pulmonary vascular permeability and lipoperoxides inserum and lung homogenate increased significantly 2 h after scalding.Subsequently,interstitial and alveolar edema developed.Pulmonary vascularpermeability was strongly correlated with lung lipoperoxides(r=0.992).SerumCH50was decreased to 56.8% 1 h after scalding,and at the same time,neutrophilcount increased in pulmonary interstitium and vasculature.The increase inpulmonary vascular permeability and lipoperoxides could be prevented with largedose of vitamin E and neutropenia.The results indicate that the lipoperoxidationof pulmonary vascular endothelial cells secondary to complement activation andpulmonary leukostasis is the major cause of increase in pulmonary vascularpermeability after scalding.
Abstract:<正> In this study,the plasma and erythrocyte(RBC)lipoperoxidation rates,the contents of antioxidant vitamin E(VE)and the activities of antioxidationenzyme SeGSHPx of plasma and RBC in the patients with burn were determinedon the 1st,3rd,5th,10th and 15th days after burn.The results showed that ascompared with healthy subjects,the contents of Iipoperoxide were increased,and thelevels of VE and the activities of SeGSHPx were decreased significantly.Thechanges became more significant with the time elapsing,and the most significantchanges were on the 10tb days postburn.In the meantime the percentages of RBCspontaneous hemolysis and the activities of SeGSHPx were increased,and thecontents of VE in RBC were decreased markedly.The regularity of the changes inthe lipoperoxidation rates of plasma and RBC was in accordance with that in thecontents of VE in them.The degrees of the changes in the LPO and VE contentsand the SeGSHPx activities in plasma were in relation to the extents of burn.Onthe 53th,65th and 85th days during recovery postburn,the changes were stillsignificant compared to the healthy subjects,although they had a tendency torestore.
Abstract:<正> The effects of zymosan-activated plasma(ZAP)on lung fluid exchangeand on superoxide anion production by granulocytes were studied in 8 consciousgoats with chronic lung lymph fistula,It was found that after ZAP infusion, thecirculating granulocytes were activated and the release of superoxide anions wasmarkedly enhanced. There was an increase in lung lymph flow and proteinconcentration.It suggests that the superoxide anion released by the stimulatedgranulocytes can play a role in inducing lung injury by the activated complement.

Abstract:<正> An efficient BASIC program was established on Apple-Ⅱmicrocomputer with the CHESTAC-35F pulmonary function testing system tocalculate the time-constant histogram from the spirogram.By a set of analogousstudies,we confirmed that the recovered time-constant histogram was within onecompartment of the assumed one and that the root of mean square values of theresiduals between the experimental and model volume-time curves was 0.02.Infour healthy adult subjects,the mean value of time-constant histograms(TCx)hadthe variation coefficient 6.6%.The results show that our method is reliable andreproducible,and it can be used for clinical investigation.
