Abstract:<正> A model of irreversible hemorrhagic shock was reproduced in rats andchanges of the microcirculation of the cremaster muscle were recorded by a specialHitachi color TV camera. In the control group(N=12),1 hour after hypotension(BP 40 mm Hg),0.6 ml of normal saline was given i.v.,followed by reinfusion ofthe shed blood. In the experimental group, with the same procedure, crystal No4of Polygonum cuspidatum(p.c.)was given in three different dosages, viz 0.5,1.0,and 2.0 mg/100 g b.w.(N=8 for each dosage).Administration of p.c.andreplacement of the shed blood was associated with a restoration of the narrowedarterioles to near normal dimensions, blood capillary reflow, and a return of bloodpressure to stable normotensive levels. In contrast,in the saline-treated group, blood pressure tended to fall gradually and no complete restoration was observedeven at 2 hrs after treatment.Topical application of p.c.served to dilate thenarrowed arterioles. The 24 hr survival rate in p.c.-treated group(23/24)wassignificantly greater than that in saline-treated group(2/12).The data show thatp.c.is an effective drug for ameliorating microcirculatory insufficiency andincreases survival rate in hemorrhagic shock animals.
Abstract:<正> An immunogold-silver staining method was developed using homemadeserotonin antibody and the sensitivity and specificity of the antibody weredetermined by this method. The effective working dilution of the antibody was1:20000-1:80000.The morphology and distribution of the serotonin immunoreactiveendocrine cells in the gastrointestinal tract of rat and the serotoninergic neuronsin the medulla oblongata of cat demonstrated by the antibody were similar tothose reported in the list of references, suggesting that the antibody possessed highsensitivity and specificity.
Abstract:<正> Changes of the neuronal discharge of 128 medullary respiratory unitswere recorded and studied during the period of expiratory apnea induced reflexlyby intracarotid sinus injection of sodium citrate in rabbits.Generally, theneuronal discharge of inspiratory units began, stopped and recovered at the sametime with those of the phrenic nerve. But,about 5% the phase-spanninginspiratory units near the obex showed a different time course with the dischargeof the phrenic nerve. They fired continuously in a low frequency while thephrenic nerve was quiet. When increasing progressively and approaching to acertain level, the firing rate increased abruptly and at the same time phrenic nervebegan to fire.So it seemed that they acted as the pacemaker of inspiration.Comparison of the cycle-triggered histograms(CTH)of these inspiratory unitswith those of phrenic nerve showed clearly the above mentioned phasicrelationship. They started firing before the phrenic nerve, but they reached theirmaximal rate and then declined and stopped quite in accordance with the phrenicnerve. It is,therefore, reasonable to assume that the central mechanism of theswitch from expiratory apnea to inspiration may originate from this kind ofneurons. Most of the expiratory units show tonic discharges during the period of apneawith a higher discharge rate than normal and then the rate decreases just beforerecovery of phrenic firing. In addition, small portion of the expiratory units weredepressed as the phrenic discharge ceased. The function of these two differentkinds of neurons in the mechanism of development of respiratory rhythm is,apparently, different.

Abstract:<正> This study was designed to observe the dynamic changes of plateletaggregation with Born’s method and serum fibrin degradation products(FDP)with staphy lococcus clumping test after smoke inhalation in rabbits.Pathological studies of the lung tissues and determination of the lung water werealso carried out after the animals were killed. It was found that there was marked increase of the platelet aggregation ratein the 2nd and 10th hour postburn(PB),and the platelet count decreasedprogressively after injury.FDP increased in the 6th and 24th hour PB.Pathologically, there were congestion, interstitial edema and alveolar hemorrhageand edema in the lungs.Under electron microscope,it was found that plateletaggregation occurred in the lumen of small pulmonary vessels. Most plateletswere deformed with evacuation of their granules. In addition, the lung watercontent increased apparently. In association with these changes, the animalsexhibited difficulty in breathing and rales over the chest. On the basis of our obervation,it is thus proposed that the changes ofplatelets and FDP may play important roles in the development of pulmonaryedema after smoke inhalation.
Abstract:<正> It was demonstrated that nicorandil 50 and 100 mg/kg intravenously orintraperitoneally could prevent the intoxication of lidocaine and decrease itsmortality rate, furthermore nicorandil 50mg/kg,if combined with 5 mg/kgdiazepam,had a synergetic prophylactic effect against lidocaine toxicity, and thistoxicity could be effectively antagonized by 100 mg/kg of nicorandil in mice.Itwas found that the tolerant dose of lidocaine was elevated by nicorandil 100mg/kg intraperitoneally in rats.
Abstract:<正> We present here a comparative study on the transplantation of freshand cryopreserved fetal liver cells(FLC)in mice. The results indicated that the30-day survival rates after transplantation were 38.8%(26/67)for recipients infusedwith fresh fetal liver cells and 54.5%(42/77)for those received cells cryopreservedin liquid nitrogen for 2-103 days. The viability assay showed that the frozen-thawed cells still had an intact viability and repopulating capacity.Ourinvestigations demonstrate that the infusion of fetal liver cells preserved in-196℃ and thawed rapidly could achieve hematopoietic reconstitution in lethallyirradiated mice.
Abstract:<正> Two cases of β-thalassemia major treated with fetal liver transplanta-tion(FLT)were reported.A conditioning regimen of total body irradiation pluscyclophosphamide was given, followed by the infusion of suspensions of fetal livercells. The number of nucleated cells(procared from 3 to 4 fetal livers)infused tothe 2 cases was 17.5 and 15.5×108/kg respectively.Transient hemopoieticdepression was observed after FLT,and normal hemopoiesis was recoveredaround the 30th day.Karyotypic analysis revealed that the donor typechromosomes was founed in the peripheral blood of both cases from the 20th dayto 123rd day after FLT.Skin biopsy of cass 1 revealed changes of mild GVHD,indicating engrafment of fetal hemopoietic cells and formation of chimeras in thisperiod.Autologous hemopoiesis was reconstituted in both cases two months afterFLT.Blood transfusion was not necessary within the first 5 months after FLT,and in case 1 transfusion was given 3 times only within 21 months after FLT.
Abstract:<正> This study was designed to test whether endogenous opiate peptide-containing interneurons in the spinal cord act in series with long descendingserotonergic fibers or not.The experiments were performed on 21 rabbitsimmobilized with gallamine triethiodide. The nociceptive discharges of 21parafascicular neurons were recorded extracellularly, all of which could bestrongly inhibited by imitative descending inhibitory action produced bystimulating the isolated centrifugal stump of the dorsal half of spinal cord.Afterinjecting cyproheptadine,an antagonist of serotonin receptor, the descendinginhibitory effect of 8 neurons were blocked frofoundly, but in other 13 neuronsthey could not.In 5 neurons, which were not affected by cyproheptadine, naloxone,an antagonist of morphine receptor, administration could block thedescending inhibitory effect. On the contrary,in 6 neurons, which wereinfluenced by cyproheptadine, naloxone failed to block the descending inhibitoryeffect on 5 neurons, except other one. These results further confirm our hypothesisproposed earlier that endogenous opiate peptide-containing interneurons act inseries with long descending noradrenergic fibers in spinal cord to be involved inthe descending antinociceptive actiori, while they might have little,if any,to dowith the descending serotonergic system in this action.
Abstract:<正> In a twenty-five year period(1958-1983),there were altogether 4651burn cases admitted to this institute,of whom 1255 were children(26.95%).Themortality rate of this series of young victims was 4.7%(59 cases). The causes ofdeath were septicemia(30 cases),shock(17),cerebral edema and cerebral hernia(4),acute renal failure(4),severe burn wound sepsis(2),and pulmonarycomplications resulting from severe inhalation burns(2).Since the mortality and the incidence of shock and septicemia were closelyrelated to the extensiveness of the burn injuries,a new classification of burninjuries in children is suggested as follows:1.Mild burns:The affected area is less than 10% TBSA.2.Moderate burns:10-29% TBSA is injured.3.Severe burns:30-49% TBSA is injured.4.Extremely severe burns:More than 50% TBSA is injured.
Abstract:<正> Using a 2-factor 6×3 factorial experimental design and the MultistageEvaluation Scale(MES)to estimate the respiratory sensation,we systematicallystudied in 17 healthy young men the physiological and psychological effects of sixlevels of suprathreshold added resistive loads, appliedeparately to eitherinspiration or expiration,or throughout the breathing cycle. We observed that(1)no matter what phase of the breathing cycle was impeded, mask cavity pressureswingas well as total external respiratory workrate(r)was a curvilinearfunction of the total resistive load added(RT),which exhibited an upwardconvexity;(2)the perceived magnitude(PM)of the respiratory sensation estimatedby using MES(SMES)was directly related to intensity of the physiologicalstimulus and indirectly related to the intensity of the resistance added;and(3)under different loading conditions,SMESwas a curvilinear function of theintensity of the physiological stimulus, which exhibited an upward concavity. These results suggest that when we derive the standards of allowable resistancefor respiratory protective equipment,in addition to the total load intensity, theimportance of the ratio between inspiratory and expiratory resistance should alsobe considered.
Abstract:<正> Previous work in our laboratory showed that, after scalding, there wasnot only a decrease of rat liver cytosol [3H]-Dexamethasone specific binding sitesbut also an increase of apparent dissociation constant of [3H]-Dex and change ofsedimentation coefficient of glucocorticoid receptor. The present study was carriedout using photoaffinity labeling of glucocorticoid receptor in rat liver cytosol.Itwas found that there was no significant difference between molecular weights ofglucocorticoid receptor of normal and scalded rats determined by SDS-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. Our result suggests that chnage ofsedimentation coefficient is not due to alteration of molecular weight ofglucocorticoid receptor binding subunit.

Abstract:<正> The measurement of the right ventricle is carried out on a left lateralchest film.3 points are determined:A is the apex of the sternal angle;B is thetopmost point of the contact surface between the anterior cardiac border and theanterior chest wall;and C is the apex of the anterior costophrenic angle.Thelength of the lines AC and BC is measured. The ratio of BC:AC is considered asan index of the size of the right ventricle. On the basis of the measurements on120 normal subjects,0.54(0.46+2×0.04)is employed as the upper limit of thenormal.A left lateral chest radiogram is very easy to take. The procedure ofmeasurement is simple. An application of this method on the surgically provedcases verified its reliability. In the evaluation of the size changes of the rightventricle, the digital index provides the doctors with a quantitative comparisonmethod. It is helpful in the analysis of serial radiograms.Furthermore, leftlateral chest film will become more useful in assessing the heart size.
