Abstract
<正> The characteristics of the soft tissue wounds of the hind legs of 155dogs produced by stainless-steel spherical pellets of different masses and velocitieswere observed.It was found that when the mass of the pellets was identical
thenthe velocity of the pellets was the main factor to determine the severity of the tissuedamage;when the mass of the pellets was different and their kinetic energy wassimilar
then a small but fast pellet produced more severe damage than a large butslow one.Shallow and extensive wounds were usually developed.The rate ofdisability of the extremities inflicted with such a kind of wound was very high.These characteristics of the soft tissue wound give rise to new problems in themanagement of gun-shot wounds.
